A recent trip to the Filoli estate in San Mateo, California (close in proximity to the Santa Cruz mountains). I accompanied the gardeners and apprentices from the San Francisco Botanical Gardens for a tour of the land. The presentation of this space left me a bit awe struck. Rich in history and over the top wealth. It was difficult for me to imagine that anyone could actually live there. My favorite portion of the tour had to be the orchards. A few of us agreed that the apples we ate were reminiscent of fruit we haven’t tasted for years. The nurseries were inspiring as well.
